Inspired by Gridlaw 6: Find Your Tribe, Know Your Tribe, Be a Great Tribe Member, this Gridlist focuses on your role as a great tribe member within your circle of chosen ones.
You may naturally be someone who listens before you speak—taking the time to sit with emotions before sharing so you can regulate your feelings, even with your tribe members, making you naturally a great listener. On the other hand, you might be the type who needs to instantly vent or offload in order to gather your thoughts and emotions.
If this sounds like you, ask yourself: Do you return the favour?
Do you listen as well as you speak freely in your time of need?
Do you allow others to vent as freely as you do?
Do you enquire and encourage your tribe members to open up, or are you more of the "if they don't say, I won't know" type?
Maybe you interact differently with some tribe members compared to others?
This Gridlist serves as a self-reflection tool—an opportunity to assess your listening skills on a person-by-person basis.

Gridlist 106: The Instruction
START: How well do you listen? 👂
This question is worth considering, especially if you often offload to your loved ones. How well do you return the listening favour? Do you genuinely enquire with intent and dedicate time to truly listen? 🙉
On a scale of 1 (fail) to 10 (I do return the favour), make a list of everyone in your circle and rate how well you listen to each of them. Then, analyse your results and justify or improve where applicable.
Examples for Your Gridlist 106:
1️⃣ Person: Sarah (Best Friend) 👫Listening Score: 6/10
Improvement Step: Make a conscious effort to ask about her day before sharing my own and actively listen without interrupting.
2️⃣ Person: James (Colleague) 👩💼Listening Score: 8/10
Justification: I am happy with this score because I make an effort to give him my full attention during conversations, respond thoughtfully, and ensure he feels heard. However, there is always room for improvement in how I remember key details he shares.
These small adjustments help strengthen relationships, build trust, and deepen connections.
