Be inspired: 7 real-life examples of what inner work looks like
Updated: 1 day ago

Our Inner Work Mission
At Grid Society, our mission is to make inner work part of everyday life. Through our workbooks, workshops and Universal Grid™ framework, we help people recognise their behavioural patterns, break unwanted cycles and build on what is already working for them.
We believe inner work should be something you can practise wherever you are, whether at home, in your favourite café or during a moment of reflection.
These 7 real-life examples show how you can make inner work part of your lifestyle, recognise your progress and start making Gridmoves.
Inner work in real life
Inner work does not have to happen in a counselling room, during a workshop or at a particular time of day.
If you are wondering what inner work looks like in everyday life, it can be as simple as sitting with a coffee in your favourite café, taking time during your morning routine, reflecting on a difficult conversation or suddenly recognising a pattern you have been repeating for years.
Sometimes you deliberately make an appointment with yourself. Other times, an everyday experience gives you an opportunity to stop, reflect and recognise something about yourself.
Inner work can be as simple as taking 15 minutes for yourself or as involved as spending several hours exploring a particular area of your life.
There is no single way to do it, and it does not have to look the same every day.
Here are six examples of what doing the inner work can look like in real life.
1🍊
A morning check-in before work
Before you head off to work and get caught up in the demands of the day, give yourself 15 minutes to open your Grid Society Morning Reset workbook.
Work through the Green and Orange Grid, offloading the thoughts and worries you do not want to carry into your day, while reinforcing positive thoughts, building confidence and getting yourself into a better frame of mind before you step out of the door.
2🍊
After scrolling through social media
You've just spent twenty minutes scrolling through social media, looking at your friends' holidays, promotions, relationships and achievements.
Suddenly, you feel like you're falling behind in life. Instead of spending the rest of the day comparing yourself, open your Behind Compared to My Friends Pattern Recognition Workbook. Explore what triggered those feelings, recognise your comparison patterns and take a moment to acknowledge your own progress.
3🍊
The 4 a.m. spiral
It's 4 a.m. You're wide awake, checking your phone, wondering why someone hasn't replied to your message.
You start replaying conversations, questioning what you said and imagining what might have gone wrong. Instead of spending another hour going around in circles, open your Ghosting and Texting Anxiety Pattern Recognition Workbook.
Explore what is triggering your anxiety, recognise the patterns behind your reactions and begin separating what you know from what you are assuming.
4🍊
A little me-time on holiday
You're on holiday, away from your usual routine, with a little more time to yourself. Whether you're relaxing by the pool, sitting on your balcony or enjoying your morning coffee, why not use this opportunity to start building your vision?
Open Grid Mission 01: Define Your Orange Grid, a 30-day digital challenge designed to help you get clear about what you really want. Work through practical tasks, guided self-reflection and vision-building exercises to explore your goals, challenge limiting beliefs and start creating a vision that makes sense for the life you want to build.
5🍊
Saturday morning reflection
It's Saturday morning. The working week is behind you, and you've finally got a little time to yourself. Grab a coffee and open your I Keep on Making the Same Mistakes Pattern Recognition Workbook.
Look back over the week, explore any situations where you found yourself repeating old behaviours, recognise what you handled differently and identify the patterns you want to work on in the week ahead.
6🍊
Sunday morning confidence check-in
It's Sunday morning. You've found a cosy spot in your favourite café, ordered your coffee and have a little time to yourself. Open your Why Do I Always Put Myself Down? Pattern Recognition Workbook and take an honest look at how you've been speaking to yourself lately.
Recognise the self-critical patterns that may be affecting your confidence, acknowledge your strengths and give yourself some credit for how far you've come.
7🍊
At-home breakthrough session
You've got some time to yourself at home, settled into your favourite spot with a cup of tea. Perhaps you've been carrying old frustrations, unhelpful habits or situations that are draining your energy.
Open Grid Mission 03: The Burn Lists, a 30-day digital challenge designed to help you recognise what no longer serves you. Work through guided Burn Lists to explore the patterns, relationships and emotional clutter you're ready to leave behind.
Sometimes inner work is not about what you need to start doing. It's about recognising what you need to stop carrying.
Inner work should move with you.
Not wait for the perfect moment.
Inner work does not have to be complicated, and there is no perfect time or place to do it. What matters is making space to recognise your patterns, understand yourself better and build on what you discover. The more you make inner work part of your everyday life, the more opportunities you create for personal growth.
