The philosophy behind Make Gridmoves™

At Grid Society, we help people develop self-awareness, recognise behavioural patterns and make more intentional decisions about how they think, feel and live.

Through our personal development workshops, workbooks and learning experiences, we encourage people to turn greater awareness into meaningful action.

At the centre of our philosophy is the Universal Grid™, a metaphorical world representing three states of mind:

Alongside the Universal Grid™, we developed the Grid Society Lexicon™, a collection of original phrases and terminology that gives people a distinctive vocabulary to describe their thoughts, emotions, behaviours and personal development experiences.

Much to our delight, this language has become part of how Grid Society readers and workshop attendees communicate about their lives, recognise patterns and identify the changes they want to make.

We do not use these terms casually. They help us describe experiences that are often difficult to explain and turn personal insights into practical choices. One of those terms is Make Gridmoves™, our philosophy of making intentional, strategic moves towards the life you want to create.

Make Gridmoves™ – Definition

Make Gridmoves™ is a Grid Society philosophy centred on taking small, consistent, strategic and pre-defined steps towards a clear vision.

Unlike everyday actions that simply keep you occupied, Gridmoves are intentional choices designed to reposition your thinking, emotions and direction in life, creating meaningful progress that you can recognise and measure over time.

3 things to know about the Orange Tales Only™ philosophy

#1

Not every move is a Gridmove

You might make twenty moves in a day, but only two of them may be Gridmoves. Why? Because being busy and making progress are not necessarily the same thing.

Everyday life is full of activities, responsibilities and decisions. Some keep things running, while others genuinely move you closer to the future you want to create.

A Gridmove is different because it has a purpose. It is a deliberate action connected to a specific goal or vision, rather than something you do simply because it needs doing.

Normal moves keep you occupied. Gridmoves create direction.

#2

Gridmoves begin with a clear vision

Before you can make meaningful Gridmoves, you need a clear vision of the life you want to create. Not just a list of goals, but a bigger picture of your future that encompasses your career, finances, relationships, lifestyle, personal growth and the experiences you want to enjoy.

Once you have developed that vision, you can begin identifying the smaller goals, decisions and strategic actions needed to bring it to life.

This is what makes Gridmoves different from random acts of productivity. Each move has a purpose because it contributes to something greater than the task itself.

Your vision gives you direction. Your Gridmoves help you get there.

#3

Small Gridmoves can create significant progress

You do not need to make enormous changes every day to move your life forward. Some of the most valuable Gridmoves take only a few minutes.

Making an important phone call, completing one task towards a bigger goal or finally taking the first step towards something you have been planning can all count.

When you consistently make intentional moves, you begin building evidence of your progress. Over time, you can look back and recognise how those individual decisions contributed to where you are today.

The size of a Gridmove matters less than the direction it takes you.

4 ways to develop your Orange Tales using the Grid Society philosophy

1. Explore your patterns through our Pattern Recognition Workbooks

Our Pattern Recognition Workbooks help you recognise everyday behaviours and habits that may be keeping you on the Grey Grid.

For every Grey scenario, we introduce a Green scenario, helping you recognise how you can approach the situation differently, make more intentional choices and begin taking practical steps away from Grey Grid Thinking.

These small, purposeful actions can become your next Gridmoves.

2. Make Gridmoves through our Morning Reset workshop

Our Instant Access Morning Reset workshop includes a dedicated section on Gridmoves, recognising obstacles and developing strategies to overcome them so you can make Gridmoves that count.

Spending just five or ten minutes each morning on your reset can help you approach the day with greater clarity, intention and a stronger sense of direction.

3. Strengthen your Gridmoves through Grid Mission 05

Sometimes, when you are trying to make Gridmoves, your own inner dialogue can become an obstacle to moving forward.

Grid Mission 05: Confront the Grey Voices, Defend Yourself helps you recognise and challenge those Grey Voices, strengthen your Orange Voice and develop the confidence to keep making Gridmoves towards your vision.

4. Protect your Gridmoves through our Building Boundaries workshop

Sometimes, making Gridmoves means learning to set boundaries that protect your time, energy and priorities.

Our Building Boundaries workshop gives you practical tools to establish healthier boundaries, communicate your needs and make space for the decisions and actions that support your Orange Grid™.
