50 morning affirmations: People -pleasing and boundaries
There are levels to affirmations
At Grid Society, we believe there are levels to affirmations.
Inspired by our Vol. 2 Pattern Recognition Workbook, we have created 50 morning affirmations for people-pleasing and boundaries designed to help you strengthen your boundaries, challenge your people-pleasing tendencies and start the day with a more intentional state of mind.
You can simply start repeating them today, go deeper and combine them with inner work, or take it one step further and make the whole thing part of your morning routine for as long as you need to strengthen this area of your life.
Our passion for subjects such as boundaries has grown through the Grid Society workshops we deliver to individuals, professionals, organisations and counsellors. We have seen just how powerful it can be when people are given clear language for something they have been struggling to articulate.
Affirmations. Start right now.
Affirmations + inner work.
Affirmations + inner work + morning lifestyle.
Start here. Repeat them.

Level one:
We challenge you to read all 50 slowly and intentionally
If you are serious about strengthening this area of your life, we challenge you to recite all 50 right now.
We do not mean skim them. We do not mean browse through them while doing six other things.
Read them slowly.
Say them intentionally.
Say them as though you mean them.
Let the words imprint themselves on your mind.
Come back tomorrow and do it again.
Repeat for the next 7 days.

The idea is that when the inner battle starts and the Grey Voices begin talking, you have new language ready. You have words for the boundary. You have words for the no. You have words for choosing yourself without immediately talking yourself out of it.
Level two:
Affirmations + inner work: the winning combo
Affirmations hit differently when you have done the inner work.
Repeating I am allowed to say no is one thing. Recognising why you repeatedly say yes when every part of you wants to say no gives those words much more meaning.
This is why we created Volume 2 in our Pattern Recognition Collection.
Inside, there are 36 people-pleasing and boundary patterns for you to look through and ask yourself:
(1) Which patterns are you struggling with (2) Which patterns are you happy with? (3) Which patterns need to be deleted immediately? (4) Which patterns will need more time to work on and implement into your life?
You can use the workbook to journal, answer the new questions inside it, monitor your people-pleasing patterns and notice what keeps showing up over the next four weeks.
It is easy to work through, enjoyable and can leave you feeling mentally clearer. You can spend five minutes or 60 minutes with it.
Just know this: the minute you open it and start looking at yourself properly, the inner work has begun.
Couple that inner work with the affirmations and you have a lethal combination.

Level three:
Affirmations + Inner Work + Morning Lifestyle
This is where it gets good.
Café. Matcha. Inner work. Affirmations.
Saturday morning. Sunday morning. A café you love. A walk by the canal. Your workbook is open on your device and you are solely focusing on you.
You are checking in with your thinking, noticing where people-pleasing has crept back in and looking at the boundaries that need your attention.
You might work through a few pages, write down what comes up using the workbook structure and finish by reading the affirmations that reinforce the way you want to think going forward.
You can do all of that in less than hour.

Recite 50 morning affirmations: People-pleasing and Boundaries
Believe it!
I do not need everybody to like me.
I can say no without writing an essay afterwards.
I do not need to explain every decision I make.
My boundaries do not require unanimous approval.
I can disappoint somebody and still know I made the right decision for me.
I am allowed to consider what I need.
I do not automatically put everybody else's needs before my own.
My time matters.
My energy matters.
My opinion matters.
My voice belongs in the room too.
I speak up when something does not work for me.
I do not expect people to magically know what I have never communicated.
I ask for what I need.
I mean my yes.
I mean my no.
I do not say yes when I really want to say no.
I am allowed to change my mind.
I am allowed to take up space.
I am allowed to choose myself.
Somebody being unhappy with my decision does not automatically make my decision wrong.
I can be kind without constantly accommodating everybody.
I can care about somebody without taking responsibility for their reaction.
I do not have to fix everybody's problems.
I do not have to keep everybody happy.
Other people's expectations do not automatically become my obligations.
I can pause before agreeing to something.
I give myself time to decide.
I do not answer from pressure.
I make decisions that respect my own life too.
Saying no does not make me difficult.
Having boundaries does not make me selfish.
I can be generous without abandoning myself.
I choose relationships where honesty can survive a boundary.
The right relationships can handle the word no.
I do not shrink myself to make somebody else more comfortable.
I do not betray my own needs to avoid an awkward conversation.
I can tolerate somebody being disappointed.
I can let people have their feelings without changing my decision.
I do not need permission to protect my time.
I do not need permission to protect my energy.
I do not need permission to have limits.
I recognise when I am agreeing simply to avoid conflict.
I recognise when I am over-explaining because I want approval.
I recognise when I am making somebody else's comfort more important than my own.
I stop and ask myself what I actually want.
I choose honesty over automatic people pleasing.
I choose clear boundaries over resentment.
I can love people without losing myself inside their expectations.
Today, I remember that my voice, needs and boundaries matter too.
