We Did It: Our First Independent Personal Development Workshop in Dubai 🍊

As a UK-based company with a bold global vision, Grid Society just crossed a major threshold: we delivered our first-ever independent workshop in Dubai and it was amazing.

Hosted at Curtin University Dubai, our Building Boundaries: Stay Off the Grey Grid workshop was not attached to any wider event or platform. This was our session, our audience, and our system. It felt less like we arrived and more like the space had been expecting us.

We are using this blog post to gently honour that moment. To pause. To reflect. To do exactly what we ask others to do when these kinds of Orange Moments appear. Grid Law 1: Write them down. Because some moments deserve to be acknowledged. And this one deserves to be celebrated.

Dubai Building

It started with micro-events, quiet spaces where we introduced who we are. Small rooms. Intimate conversations. Then came Women Who Thrive, and everything expanded. That connection led to real leads, deeper trust, and even bigger stages. We hosted International Women’s Day with the IMA, began shaping conversations, and received invitations that turned into lasting impact. Then came our first independent public-access workshop, designed and delivered entirely by us, open to individuals rather than institutions.

The Alignment Was Deeper Than We Expected

From the moment we entered Curtin University, the energy matched our intention. Curtin’s learning space is colour-coded, with each room marked by vibrant, distinct shades:

🟠 Orange Room,

🟩 Green Room,

🟦 Blue Room.

If you know the Grid, you know these colours all mean something. They are not just aesthetic choices. They are emotional locations in our system. But what truly left us speechless was being placed in the Red Room.

At first, it felt like a mismatch. Orange or Green would have made perfect sense. But then it hit us. In the Building Boundaries Workshop, we introduce the concept of the Red Warning Threshold,🚩a section dedicated to recognising the emotional line where things begin to tip. Where your energy shifts, your decisions wobble, and your boundaries begin to bleed. To find ourselves delivering that exact content in a red-themed room was not just alignment. It was fate in the details.

This Moment Was a Team Effort

We owe deep thanks to @women.whothrive, who helped us secure this incredible venue. The colours, the space, the vibe made it feel as if Curtin University had been Grid-coded all along.

To our Grid Society UAE Ambassador, Anita, your leadership was exceptional. From the setup to the final slide, the feedback was consistent. You delivered with strength and grace. You made London proud and Dubai took note. 🍊

You have been instrumental in shaping our counselling-based workshops and putting us on the workshop path in the first place. You saw something in us that we had not yet seen.
