How Grid Society language reshaped leadership conversations in just 15 minutes
At the Women in Educational Leadership Summit (WELN UAE 2025), something powerful shifted in the room

In just 15 minutes, a short segment opened up a much bigger internal conversation. Anita Stewart, a respected principal and our UAE Ambassador, delivered a focused extract from our flagship Inner Critic workshop, Confront the Grey Voices™.
It was not the full two-and-a-half-hour experience. It was a window. A glimpse into the Grid Society dictionary. The language. The terms. The emotional framework that gives shape to thoughts leaders often carry quietly.
Green Voice.
These are not abstract concepts. They are recognisable states. They are internal tones. They are the private conversations leaders have before they speak publicly.
What Anita shared was short, but it was sticky. Because when someone hears their own internal dialogue described accurately, something clicks. They do not need hours. They need recognition.
When a leader realises, “That is my Grey Voice,” the self-doubt becomes visible instead of invisible. When they can say, “I am choosing my Orange Voice,” their posture changes before they even realise it.
That is the power of the Grid Society framework. It names. Once something is named, it can be managed.
Inner Critic Workshop Impact at WELN UAE Leadership Summit
Although the segment was brief, the emotional response in the room was immediate and visible. What was introduced was not just an idea, but language people recognised in themselves.
That recognition showed up in several clear ways:

Anita received a round of applause at the close of her presentation.
The presenter who followed her referenced the Grey Voice and Orange Voice directly in her own opening remarks.
The final speaker in the segment returned to the language introduced during the session.
Written reviews mentioned Grid Society and the framework explicitly.
Private conversations with Anita afterwards confirmed that the message had landed on a personal level.
For many women in the room, the Grey Voice suddenly had a name. What had once felt like private doubt became identifiable. And once doubt becomes identifiable, it becomes interruptible.
That is the impact of the Grid Society framework. It does not simply encourage confidence. It exposes the internal dialogue that quietly shapes it.
LinkedIn Conversations
Some of the most insightful reflections were shared publicly and privately through LinkedIn. The following responses capture how the message landed, both in the moment and afterwards.
From the Leadership Floor
Nadia Low Ten Que, Head of Primary at Reach British School in Abu Dhabi, publicly reflected on LinkedIn:
“Anita Stewart’s session on our different ‘colour voices’ hit home hard. We all have that grey voice of doubt whispering in our heads sometimes, but I’m pledging to myself right now to strive for the orange voice, the voice of empowerment, the one that says ‘You belong in this space.
What was heard became personal.
What became personal became actionable.
From a Private
Message:

“I found your session on the three voices so comforting. A reminder that we all have these doubts, but we do not have to listen to them. It was really lovely meeting you yesterday!”
Leaders carry doubt quietly.
Naming it changes everything.
This private message affirmed the emotional intelligence of the session and reflected the quiet recognition many leaders feel when they are finally given language for what they have long suppressed.
From a Speaker on the Day - Live on Stage

Immediately after our session, the next presenter opened by saying:
“Thank you, Anita, for your session. All day I realised I had been in my grey voice, questioning my ability to do this workshop. However, just before I came on, I reminded myself of my green voice and now I can proudly say I am standing here in my orange voice.
She named her Grey Voice.
She stood in her Orange Voice.
She received a huge round of applause. You could feel the shift in the room. What had been introduced minutes earlier was already being lived out on stage.
From a LinkedIn Post by Kemi Oluyinka

Author, Founder of Black Teachers Network
In her public reflection on the WELN Educational Leadership Summit 2025, Kemi shared:
“Anita Stewart offered a brilliant framework for understanding the voices in our heads: Grey voice - irrational, limiting Green voice - coaching, calm, reasonable Orange voice - affirming, powerful, validating: ‘You belong. You have value.’ This session helped me reframe self-talk and recognise how we internalise leadership, too.”
What leaders say
to themselves matters.
This feedback affirmed how clearly the Grid Society framework was communicated and understood. It also demonstrated the lasting internal impact of the language, offering attendees a new way to interpret self-leadership even after the event had ended.

We were proud to see Grid Society language introduced at the Women in Educational Leadership Summit in the UAE and to contribute to conversations around self-awareness, inner dialogue and leadership presence.
Emotional Language in Leadership Matters
When leaders cannot name their emotional patterns, those patterns lead in silence. What a leader says internally shapes how they show up externally. Leadership clarity begins when internal conversations become conscious.
Moments like WELN UAE matter because leadership is not only shaped by strategy.
It is shaped by what happens internally before decisions are made, before voices are heard, before confidence is displayed.
When leaders begin to recognise their Grey Voice™, hesitation becomes visible. When they consciously step into their Orange Voice™, authority stabilises.
This is how internal clarity reshapes leadership.
Our Inner Critic Framework is now available for you to use at home
The Inner Critic framework delivered at the WELN UAE Leadership Summit is the same system we use in our professional workshops for leaders navigating pressure, visibility and responsibility.
The internal struggle it addresses is not exclusive to leadership rooms.
Many women experience the weight of the inner critic daily, quietly questioning themselves in moments that matter.

If you recognise the Grey Voice™ in your own thinking, you do not have to leave it unnamed.
We have created two practical tools based on this same workshop system. They are designed to help you face your inner critic directly, organise your thinking and respond with greater clarity.
➤➤➤ If you want to go deeper
If learning about Grey Voices™ feels familiar, the next step is structure. We have 2 practical tools designed to help you interrupt your inner critic and challenge these patterns with clarity.
