Rewire in 1min | 6am | I feel behind all my friends

Updated: 6 days ago

GRID SOCIETY:

Every morning, I open social media and feel frustrated. It looks like everyone else is further ahead than I am.

GREY GRID THINKING

You are questioning yourself!

You’re staring at a screen before you’ve even opened the curtains, letting your friends' highlight reel dictate your worth before your feet have hit the floor. As you scroll, that heavy thought starts to sink in: "I feel behind all my friends."

You start questioning where you should be by now. You replay your decisions and wonder if you have missed something. It feels like everyone else was handed the secret code while you're left staring at a blank screen, desperately trying to catch up.

At Grid Society, we call this Grey Grid Thinking. Be careful. This is where the spiral starts.

THE REALITY

Social Media is not the truth

It is possible that you may be behind in some areas of your life. That happens to everyone. Remember, this is not a fixed position; with effort and attention, this is something you can change.

However, the problem is that the standard you’re using to judge yourself every morning isn’t actually real.

Comparing your entire life, the messy parts, the boring parts, and the struggles to everyone else’s Instagram highlight reel is an unfair comparison.

You’re seeing their best 1% and weighing it against your 100%.

Deep down, we all know that social media is a curated version of the truth and yet we still fall for the trickary, day after day, season after season. Especially when we are feeling low about ourselves. We buy into the idea that all of our friends has it figured out, while we feel like we are barely moving forward.

That is the false perception, and you will never win mentally until you stop playing by those rules.

DO THE INNERWORK

A signal for reinvention

While it’s true that social media is a distorted version of reality, this is also a moment to be completely honest with yourself.

Look at the areas where you genuinely feel behind and ask yourself: Why?

Sometimes, that feeling of being "behind" isn't just a comparison trap - it’s a signal. A powerful signal to start looking forward. Don't sit and overthink, letting comparison spiral you into a "Grey" state. That just keeps you sad and feeling stuck.

Instead, use this feeling as a moment of recognition. It’s a sign that a part of your life needs focus, effort, or a total reinvention.

It’s time to build a game plan.

It's time to vision again.

Commitment and inner work:

Yes, it’s going to take some inner work, commitment, and bravery, but if you’re willing to put in the effort and face the reality of where you are, you can turn all of the “grey” comparative thinking around.

FACT: You can change the entire direction of your life in just 90 days.

MAKE GRIDMOVES

Decide Today!

The only question is:

1 ) Are you prepared to do the work?

🟢2 ) Are you going to continue thinking the same grey comparative thoughts for the next 3 months?

CREATE YOUR ORANGE GRID

When you feel behind, look aggressively towards your future

At Grid Society, we say:

When you're feeling behind, start looking aggressively to the future - a new future that you are going to create and follow.

Set a 90-day timeframe. Start visualising exactly where you want to go and what needs to change in your life today to get there.

Bring your focus back to the only thing you can actually control:

Your next move.

Because this only goes 1 of 2 ways. You either start creating your next position, or you stay here repeating the same thought for another 3 months.

GET TO YOUR ORANGE GRID

The Exit Strategy

Grid Society has created the Morning Reset to help you step out of the comparison trap and into a clear direction.

Use the Grid Society Morning Reset at least 3 times a week for 15 minutes. This is your dedicated space to offload "Grey Grid Thinking" and plan the specific moves that will make you feel productive, not behind.

In the Grid Society Morning Reset, you will be able to visualise a future that gives you clear direction. You will eventually become obsessed with what you are building behind the scenes.

Your mind will be too occupied with your own growth to bother with comparison. Instead of looking at your friends, you will be focused entirely on your Gridmoves: What action must I take today?
